Japan 2016. Day 6: In search for all things golden .....
We took a bus to Kinkaku-Ji, famously known as the Golden Pavilion, where the top two tiers covered in gold leaf reflected beautifully on the pond. The stroll garden was a wonderful experience and we even had some ceremonial tea on the grounds served with a sweet that had gold leaf on it. We were lucky to catch the leaves starting to change to their autumnal colors.
Ryoan Ji temple was located nearby and had breathtaking bonsai trees and a world-famous rock garden. We viewed the garden while sitting on the veranda and felt a calming effect. It was so amazing that we now want a rock garden at our home too!
We returned to Gion to stroll the lanes in daylight and we weren’t disappointed. It felt like we had gone back in time.
Tonight, we thought we would be a little more adventurous for tea...
