Japan 2016. Day 15: Last day standing ......
We woke to a miserable day and decided to go to the area with the Edo museums and the sumo stables. We caught the tube and changed lines a number of times till we came to the station we needed.
The Edo museums were massive, and we were thrilled to explore the intriguing exhibits. The interactive attractions were particularly fascinating, and we had fun trying them all out. The entrance of the museums had a replica of the Nihon Bashi bridge, the bronze marker from which the distance to and from Tokyo is measured. The first hotel we stayed in was very close to the original bridge. We also saw a life-size replica of the Kabuki Theatre front, which was just a street away from where we were staying. We were especially impressed by the old-style houses that depicted everyday life from the Edo period.
"
We couldn't visit the sumo stables as the rain was too heavy, but we decided to keep that on our list for the next time we visit.
We headed to Asakusa for lunch, which was delicious but a little unusual. We were the only people there, and the husband and wife who cooked and served us seemed to have fought. it’s funny how marital bliss is the same all over the world ๐๐
We returned to our room with some last-minute gifts and started packing for our flight back home the next day. For our last night in Tokyo, we dined at a lovely restaurant in Shibuya. The night was wet, but it didn't deter the young, trendy, and weird from celebrating Halloween in full fancy dress. It was quite an experience!
So it is with great sadness that we wish you all a goodnight on our last night.
