Slovenia 2019. Day 4: Up, up and away .....
We had a slow start today and had breakfast at our pension while looking over at Lake Jasna. Lake Jasna looked so inviting this morning we had a slow stroll around it. We then went to Kranjska Gora and took the ski lift up to a mountain hut. I found this quite terrifying and that was without skis on.π We had a relaxing drink while looking back down at the town. It was so peaceful and it felt a lot warmer so we stayed a while just taking it all in. Our plan was to see the view then return to the town, but we decided to walk further up the mountain towards Ciprnik. The trail was just bulldozed out of the side of the mountain with very steep inclines. It was tough going.
We made it to a small hut which was a typical alpine hut. The place was so cute selling basic food and drinks. We enjoyed some mountain tea as we rested here a while just soaking in the majestic peaks of
Spik, Skrlatico, Razor, Prisank, Mojstrovko and Jalovca.
We decide to go back down the mountain using a different route. This was going to save us 15minutes. It was the difference of going down to Kranjska Gora then making our way to Lake Jasna where our hotel was, so it was a no brainer really. This turned into a really bad idea. We left the hut and started down the steep incline to the lake. The slope just got steeper and steeper. There were no defining paths so we were scrambling over piles of dirt and thousands of slippery tree roots. At times it was a shear drop either side of us, it was sometimes terrifying, but other times the views just made up for it. We dropped about 1000m very fast. We eventually reached the bottom of the mountain at the edge of Lake Jasna only to find no way

to cross it. We were so fatigued we didn’t see the pass straight away so started to build steeping stones across ππ as there was no way we were going back up. Eventually we did see it and we were ecstatic. We could hardly walk a step further so we had a drink and burger by the lake
