Singapore 2018. Day 12: Another relaxing day .....
No alarm call this morning as a day of rest was called for. It is hard to rest and take your time in such an exciting place, there is just so much to see and do but our blistered feet needed it this morning. Our morning started with a relaxing breakfast of Nasi Lemak.
Then a morning by the pool, just reading and relaxing. It kept raining on and off but only for a few minutes
But a storm was brewing ....
Before entering out in the rain we had a little high tea
We went to the old Katong area tonight to find a special shop. This shop still sells the Peranakan pottery. It was a wonderful shop but sadly photos were not allowed .
The whole area was really pretty and the Peranakan old merchant shops were restored and brightly painted, we didn’t get to look around as much as we wanted due to the heavy rain. This will definitely
be an area we return to the next time we are in Singapore. It felt almost like old Singapore, quiet
quaint streets, no big tourist attractions with lots of people having photos. No large high end malls, just people living their lives
We had to try the famous Katong Laksa while we were there. Every area has their own take on this but Anthony Bourdain raved about the Katongs version so... I had it at the exact same shop that Anthony Bourdain did (and Gordon Ramsey ) Tim had Nasi Lemak (very different from the Hotel version.) cooked in a banana leaf both were spicy spicy, but very delicious.
We stopped for a drink and cake at the red house which has been restored in the last few years. Previously it was the Katong bakery from 1925 to 2003.
